- Wax-apple greenhouse environment
Project background and needs
The Laiwu National Smart Agriculture Industrial Park in Shandong piloted growing southern wax apples in a northern greenhouse, using SenseCAP over LoRaWAN to collect environmental data and integrate with fertilizing, irrigation, ventilation, and thermal-blanket control systems.
Simulating the growing environment
- Wax apples are being trial-grown in a Shandong greenhouse.
- The greenhouse must be strictly monitored to simulate southern growing conditions and protect fruit quality.
Needs continuous visibility into greenhouse environmental data.
Automated management
- Greenhouse management costs are high.
- Fertilizing, ventilation, thermal blankets, and irrigation all need smart control.
Needs to integrate environmental sensing with existing control systems.
Solution and architecture
Wireless sensing
SenseCAP collects CO2, light intensity, soil temperature/moisture, conductivity, and PAR; nodes send data to the cloud via a LoRaWAN gateway.
Greenhouse control
The partner automatically fertilizes, irrigates, ventilates for cooling based on environmental thresholds, and controls the thermal blanket.
