Welcome to the Future: SenseCAP LoRaWAN Devices Deployed for Poultry Farming Accelerate Sustainable Animal Husbandry

Smart Poultry Farming Project depicts how SenseCAP LoRaWAN gateway and sensors are transforming the traditional animal husbandry industry sustainably, by harnessing IoT environmental sensing and monitoring for environmental variables of poultry farms. This Project seeks to advance the UN’s SDGs 2, 3, 4, 8, 6, 7, 9, 12, 13 and 17.

Project background and needs

Kinghoo AgroTech and Seeed piloted environmental monitoring at a poultry farm in Hebei, China, deploying SenseCAP sensors and a LoRaWAN gateway connected to the FRAMZAI platform to monitor and control in-house equipment.

From October to December 2019, Kinghoo AgroTech and Seeed ran the environmental monitoring pilot at the Hebei poultry farm.

Growth-stage environment

Chicks need different temperature, humidity, and CO2 levels at different growth stages.
Manual management struggles with the many cost-sensitive variables involved.

Needs continuous monitoring and equipment adjustment to environmental needs.

Ground-level install and cleaning

Temperature and humidity sensors sit near the ground, facing waste, dust, and animal interference.
Farms need to temporarily remove devices during cleaning and disinfection.

Needs wireless sensors that withstand site conditions and are easy to remove and reinstall.
