Aquaculture Crayfish Behavior & Fighting Recognition

Detect fighting and cannibalism risks in aquaculture tanks with on-device AI.

Autonomous 4-stage funnel pipeline running entirely on reCamera edge devices — detects aquaculture crayfish fighting, molting cannibalism risks, and sex ratios with zero video leaving the camera.

Real-time on-device fighting alert and sex classification overlay

Dense crayfish detection and male red-claw patch recognition in clear water

Robust individual separation under camera condensation and defocus blur

8-frame temporal interaction mosaic eliminating 2D overlap false positives

Ground-truth fighting event snapshot with sex attribute annotation

Reusable Site Templates

Fixed overhead tank cameras, high stocking densities, and accidents occurring in seconds.

High-Density Fattening & Molt Protection

High-Density Fattening & Molt Protection

RAS tanks and holding ponds. Alerts when soft-shell molting individuals are attacked.

Broodstock Sex Ratio & Density Monitoring

Tracks sex balance and interaction intensity in breeding tanks.

Aquaculture Research & Behavior Logging

Aquaculture Research & Behavior Logging

Automated 24/7 digital event logger recording aggression frequencies and durations without manual watching.

Not a fit: Heavy reflection dead zones, extremely turbid water. Dead individuals raise no fighting events.

How it works

The edge AI camera monitors the tank, confirms aggression locally via a 4-stage funnel pipeline, and alerts the farm dashboard.

Two things: the edge AI camera that produces the picture and runs detection, and whatever consumes the alert. Everything runs locally on the camera; video never leaves the device. What crosses the network is a few hundred bytes of JSON.

Camera & Placement

Mounted 0.8m–1.5m overhead or angled at 45°, streaming 1080p @ 10–15 FPS. Two hardware tiers:

  • reCamera Pro (1/1.8" Large Sensor): Superior sensitivity and clarity for wide tanks, multi-target tracking.
  • reCamera 2002 (1/2.8" Standard Tier): Compact, cost-optimized for high-density standard tank setups with PoE.

How well it works

Real on-device visual outputs and structured events captured directly by the camera.

Proximity Trigger & Aggression Alert

  • Crops interaction ROI when distance drops below 1.1x body length
  • Tracks claw entanglement and attacking posture with bounding boxes
  • Automatically snapshots key event frames for operational review

8-Frame Mosaic Eliminates 2D Overlap Errors

  • Assembles 8 consecutive frames into a 448² mosaic input
  • Distinguishes physical contact from side-view optical alignment
  • Reaches 95.0% aggression recall and 90.5% precision

Robust Individual Separation Under Blur

  • Trained with 15% defocus blur to handle tank condensation
  • Accurately separates touching individuals in murky water
  • Eliminates single bounding box merges on crowded clusters

In-Stream Sex Classification Voting

  • Multi-frame voting over first 10 frames of newly tracked tracks
  • Detects male red claw patch with 82.0% Top-1 accuracy
  • Dynamically tracks sex ratios without separate sorting cameras
