What This Reference Design Is

A setpoint advisor for central HVAC that checks its own writes.

The gateway brings the HVAC controller and the power meter into one table. It works out a suggested setpoint from the building's own history and writes it back.

A write is not trusted until the value is read back and compared. If it does not match, the old value is restored automatically.

It ships in watch-only mode. An operator must enable control, and a site engineer must sign off the safety limits.

Limits: the suggested setpoint comes from this building's own history. No energy-saving percentage is claimed, because there is no baseline. The plant's own interlocks override every write.

Usage Requirements

modbus_tcp

An Eastron SDM630 (Modbus V2 register map) energy meter, reachable either over Modbus TCP or through a Modbus TCP gateway

modbus_rtu

Alternatively the same meter on RS-485 through a USB adapter. The standard Docker profile does not attach a host serial device; use the serial-device profile

opc_ua

An OPC UA HVAC controller endpoint, or the built-in simulator for a dry run

bacnet_ip

Optionally a BACnet/IP air handler on a reachable subnet. Writes use a priority and release with Null; COV subscription, BBMD registration and MS-TP are not implemented

dataset

At least one week of historical operation data as CSV or Excel, with timestamp, setpoint, measured temperature and power consumption columns
