Scenario Detail
HVAC Energy Retrofit

Leave the legacy HVAC in place — teach it to run on demand

Keep every existing HVAC unit in place. LoRaWAN temperature / humidity / CO₂ sensors wall-mount in minutes, while an R1225 boxed gateway drops inside the electrical cabinet and takes over valves and fan actuators — adjusting setpoints by schedule, occupancy, and tariff peaks/valleys. Corridors throttle down at night, conference rooms shut off after meetings, and savings are visible immediately.

Core Advantages

  • Wall-mount sensors: LoRaWAN probes stick on and run — no wiring
  • Weather-driven load forecasting: rooftop weather station + outdoor data predict HVAC peaks ahead of time
  • Open-source dashboard: HomeAssistant / Node-RED show every zone in real time

Lighting System Retrofit

Keep existing fixtures — lights only when occupied

Pull every existing fixture in the building — Philips / KNX / DALI / Modbus, any protocol — into the R1225 open-source gateway. Combined with LoRaWAN occupancy / light sensors, corridors light up on motion, offices sleep at lunchtime, and zones are scheduled at night. Every circuit is visible in the open-source dashboard and remotely controllable.

Core Advantages

  • Multi-protocol fixture integration: KNX / DALI / Modbus and more, unified
  • Occupancy + lux triggers: corridor motion sensing, auto-dim when daylight is sufficient
  • Open-source remote scheduling: lunch / after-hours / weekend policies switched in one click

Power System Monitoring & Retrofit

Keep the legacy cabinet — every circuit becomes visible

Install an R1225 boxed gateway plus non-invasive CT clamps inside the electrical cabinet to monitor every circuit and floor in real time. Water-leak / temperature / smoke alerts arrive in seconds. All data feeds into a single open-source dashboard — utility meters, HVAC, lighting, all in one place.

Core Advantages

  • Cabinet-embedded deployment: R1225 fits inside the panel — saves equipment room space
  • Non-invasive CT clamps: clip on to monitor current — no power-down retrofit
  • Unified open-source dashboard: all energy / alerts in one panel
Scene Feature

Architecture

LoRaWAN Backbone + Open-Source Gateway

The retrofit stack is built from three layers: a sensor layer (LoRaWAN / RS485 probes), a gateway layer (one R1225 handles LoRa reception + multi-protocol conversion + edge control), and an application layer (open-source platform or the customer's own cloud).

Core Advantages

  • Sensor layer: battery LoRaWAN probes wall-mount; legacy RS485 meters via S2100 to wireless
  • Gateway layer: a single R1225 covers LoRa + Modbus / BACnet + 4G / Ethernet backhaul
  • Application layer: HomeAssistant / Node-RED / custom Python — data stays local or syncs to the customer cloud

Choose probes by measurement parameter

LoRaWAN probes run on batteries for 5–10 years per unit; legacy RS485 meters connect via the S2100 data logger over LoRa. The table below lists the SenseCAP probes most commonly used in building retrofits.

Core Advantages

  • T&H / CO₂: trigger basis for on-demand HVAC scheduling
  • Light-triggered: S2102 dims lighting when ambient daylight is sufficient
  • Universal RS485: S2100 converts any Modbus-RTU meter / probe to LoRa

Pick the gateway + data logger combo by backhaul

The core of the building is the R1225 — a combined LoRaWAN industrial gateway and multi-protocol controller. To extend LoRa indoor coverage, add a SenseCAP M2 Gateway. If there's no LoRa gateway at all and you only need RS485 meters → 4G direct-to-cloud, the SenseCAP Sensor Hub 4G alone is enough.

Core Advantages

  • R1225 flagship: LoRaWAN + Modbus / BACnet / Ethernet-IP + 4G/Ethernet — one unit covers a building
  • SenseCAP M2 indoor gateway: pure LoRaWAN gateway — extends indoor coverage, works with ChirpStack / TTN
  • SenseCAP Sensor Hub 4G: RS485 → 4G direct-to-cloud — no gateway needed, ideal for scattered / remote points

A visible, voice-friendly entry point to the building

Beyond the gateway, the building also needs an entry point where facilities and operations can see live data and step in manually. Watcher is an edge AI Agent that monitors visual and audio events and triggers energy-saving actions. Indicator is a 4-inch touchscreen — facilities can check live energy and override policies without booting a PC.

Core Advantages

  • SenseCAP Watcher: physical AI Agent — event-triggered HVAC / lighting actions
  • SenseCAP Indicator D1S: 4-inch touch panel — instant entry point for ops / facilities
  • Wi-Fi / LoRaWAN to R1225: shares the same platform as the existing gateway — one-click config push
